The event has a number of exciting speakers and topics ranging from; discussion on Native Title, the success of First Nations tourism in Canada, case studies on First Nation businesses and now the release of the First Nations Potentials Plan.
QTIC Chief Executive Officer, Daniel Gschwind said, “The plan focusses on the exceptional potential of First Nations tourism by sharing authentic memorable and culturally enriching experiences”.
Consultations were held throughout the state to gather views and information for the plan which has been led by First Nations people. The plan outlines the direction and priorities of First Nations tourism for 2020 -2030 in Queensland, with a vision that Queensland will be a destination of choice for first Nations Tourism by 2030.
CEO of Quandamooka Yoolooburrabee Aboriginal Corporation, Chair of QTIC First Nations Network and QTIC Board Member Cameron Costello has been a driving force behind the plan and says, “ There will be an opportunity to have a further say in how the plan should be implemented at Destination IQ. We will continue to consult to ensure we have captured the essence of what was discussed during the regions at the consultations”.
Destination IQ is a key tourism event on the industry’s calendar and will attract participants from far and wide.
The Department of Innovation and Tourism Industry Development support the Potentials Plan and Minister Kate Jones will be joining the official release of the plan to at Destination IQ.
