We would like to welcome Catherine Kristensen to the QTIC team.
Born and bred on the outskirts of Sydney, Catherine has called Queensland home since 2003.
A triple-threat when it comes to business, Catherine will be taking on the role (or roles) of Office and Finance Manager, and EA to QTIC Chief Executive Daniel Gschwind.
Catherine joins QTIC after more than 20 years working in the tourism and hospitality industry – with diverse skills and qualifications that have enabled her to run several successful businesses.
“I actually fell into the industry by accident when I was working during uni,” she said.
“But what I came to realise was even though I was studying Communications, working in the industry allowed me to do more than just tell people’s stories, it allowed me to be a part of them and help create them.
“Working in weddings for example, it was like a production, performance and story in action. And it was such a meaningful part of someone’s life to be involved in and help ‘write’.”
Prior to joining QTIC team in July 2018 Catherine was an owner/operator of Picnic Point Toowoomba – an iconic tourism-based hospitality business located on the edge of the Great Dividing Range.
During her 14 years at Picnic Point Catherine was an active member of her local RTO and thoroughly benefited from the tourism training, support and networking that was available to members.
“The RTO was a great way to be involved in the local industry and it gave me a better perspective on where we sat within the tourism landscape and the opportunities that were available,” Catherine said.
Prior to Picnic Point Catherine was a co-owner of a very busy catering and events company located in Manly, Sydney.
Catherine holds a Bachelor of Arts-Communications from University of Technology Sydney and has recently completed a Graduate Certificate of Business from The University of Southern Queensland.
Catherine will be taking over from Claire Brown as QTIC’s Office and Finance Manager, and as EA to Chief Executive Daniel Gschwind. She can be contacted via email at catherine.kristensen@qtic.com.au or phone one 07 3236 1445.
