The 2019-20 TIBCP is fully funded by the Queensland Government and offering mentoring and workshops focusing on practical ways tourism operators can grow their customer base and increase revenue by becoming trade and digital ready.
Five workshops have been delivered so far with online booking and distribution focused events proving most popular.
“Visitors are expecting a secure and simplified online booking experience and these workshops provide operators the tools to meet this demand,” said Mr Gschwind.
Fraser Island Boat Charters, a 2019-20 participant, said the interactive nature of the workshops is fun and provides a chance to network with other businesses, leading to future growth opportunities.
“The event gave us great insight into the steps we now need to take to become trade ready and has already helped our business by making connections with other tourism operators.
Given we are only just starting with some products/services within our boat chartering business, this has also helped us be aware of how we are pricing our product and the potential third-party platforms we can be using,” said Fraser Island Boats Charters.
Sanctuary Lakes Fauna Retreat owner, Deb Schulz, said the Beginners Guide to Tourism workshop has connected her with the right people to increase awareness both locally and internationally.
“It was a great opportunity to network with other business owners…to ask questions and discuss ideas with the experts.
“We see long term ‘big picture’ growth and opportunities with trade and wanted to know if this was the right path for us to follow…this event confirmed we are heading in the right direction.
“If you’re not sure – just do it. If you decide not to go any further, you will have at least gained a better understanding of your business and product and the ability to increase growth locally. If you decide trade is for you – these are the people
to help you do it right the first time,” said Ms Schulz.
More than 80 workshops and events are taking place regularly around the state until June 2020.
A calendar of digital and trade activities is available on the QTIC website. Register today to secure your place in the workshops and activities.
