In the last month we have seen a change of government at the Federal level with the Labor Party taking over leadership. Prior to their win, the ALP made a number of pre-election commitments that impact our tourism industry. An outline of these industry-related assurances are
available for you to read here.
I’m pleased to share that several of these commitments align with QTIC’s key strategic priorities, which form the backbone of our advocacy work. It’s affirming to see that the commitments of the incoming government demonstrate a considered response to our industry’s lobbying and needs.
As governments of all levels across the country make decisions on where to invest their resources, it’s more important than ever for Australian tourism to stand united and ensure that the tourism industry receives the support it warrants. Please rest assured that I will be actively working with all levels of government to position what is required to ensure the sustainable growth of our industry and ensure our future success.
We will also continue working closely with our members and operators. Over the coming months, I’ll be travelling across Queensland to engage directly with operators, to listen to your concerns and understand your continued industry needs. These conversations will play a significant role in shaping QTIC’s priorities moving forward.
As we look forward and domestic visitors continue to build and we welcome back international visitors to Queensland, I look forward to working with you and the QTIC team to ensure that our industry can capitalise on the opportunity that is presented.
Kind Regards,
Brett Fraser
QTIC Chief Executive Officer
