We would like to welcome Maddison Affleck as our newest team member.
Maddison is a Queensland girl through and through.
“I moved around a bit as a child – I mostly grew up on the Sunshine Coast, I went to boarding school in Toowoomba and lived in Chinchilla with my family before moving to Brisbane for uni.”
“But I’ve always lived in Queensland. There’s no place quite like it – no place like home really,” she said.
Maddison joined QTIC in early-August 2018, after more than 4 years at the Qantas Business Class Lounge in the Brisbane domestic and international airports.
She studied a Bachelor of International Hotel and Tourism Management – majoring in Tourism – at UQ and graduated at the end of 2017.
Maddison said it was catching the travel bug that lead her to where she is today.
“I’d never been overseas until I spent three months in Europe in 2014 and ever since then I’ve just started travelling when I can and haven’t stopped,” she said.
“Ever since then I’ve loved the idea of how big the tourism industry is, and how many pieces go into it to make a destination work. That’s how I knew I wanted a career in the industry.
“I’m excited to be starting my tourism career here in Queensland – I love the diversity of the state and everything it has to offer.”
Maddison will be taking over from Kayla Sands as Receptionist for QTIC (and our office-buddies EarthCheck).
Kayla has since taken up the role of Indigenous Project Officer at QTIC.
