They say when one door closes, another one opens. And that is definitely the case for our long-standing Office and Finance Manager and EA Claire Brown.
After more than six years with QTIC and more than 20 years in the tourism industry Claire is heading north – to the Sunshine Coast – for her sea change.
“I’m going to live at the beach,” said a beaming Claire.
“I’ll be spending lots of time at the beach and in my garden with my native bees,” said Claire.
“But before that we are off on a five-week European holiday.”
Even though Claire is looking forward to what the future holds, she will carry with her many fond memories of her time at QTIC.
“I’ve really enjoyed working with Daniel and it’s been a pleasure supporting him in his role,” she said. “And the same with the Board as well.
“We’ve always had such an amazing team at QTIC – it really is incredible to see how much a small group of people can accomplish.
“One memory that will always stay with me is the time we had a day visit to Lady Elliot Island with the team – that is a very beautiful and special part of the world.
“I have now visited twice more on longer personal holidays and can never get over how amazing it is.”
Claire started her tourism industry career in Perth before moving to Darwin, progressing to Outbound Manager which included all international areas of the company – Timika Charters, a six-times monthly service from Darwin to West Papua with Qantaslink; and Borneo Holiday and Northern Gateway Holidays, one of the first holiday specialists and personalised itinerary planning services for travel to Borneo.
Claire has also worked in the marine industry with the Elizabeth II charter vessel based in Mackay; for Australian Government Solicitors as the Managing Legal Assistant in Canberra; and as the Executive Director of Tourism Industry Council ACT.
Claire finishes at QTIC today, 30 August 2018, with our new Office and Finance Manager and EA Catherine Kristensen already 5 weeks into the role.
