Reflecting on the past year, we can be immensely proud of what we have achieved together. Despite the challenges posed by the global pandemic, our industry has demonstrated remarkable resilience and adaptability. Our efforts, coupled with the boundless natural beauty and cultural richness of Queensland, have allowed us to regain our status as the number one domestic tourism destination during 2023.
In addition to the growth of our domestic market, this year has seen the gradual recovery of our international market, supported in no small way by the attraction of international airlines to our state via the Aviation Attraction fund. The renewed investment in Queensland from international carriers is a testament to the attractiveness of our tourism industry, our enchanting landscapes, and our warm and welcoming hospitality.
As we enter the nine (9) year runway of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, we are presented an extraordinary opportunity to showcase Queensland to the world. With your active involvement, we can make these Games a resounding success, leaving an indelible mark on our industry's history. Let us seize this chance to demonstrate our unwavering commitment to excellence and the warm hospitality that Queensland is renowned for.
I would like to take a moment to acknowledge our CEO, Brett Fraser, and his dedicated team at Queensland Tourism Industry Council and thank them for their hard work, innovation, and unwavering commitment to the betterment of our industry.
