The awards are a submission-based program that provides an opportunity to publicly acknowledge and showcase Queensland's finest tourism operators.
There are 30 categories ranging from; attractions, events, tour and transport, accommodation, restaurants, culture, marketing and more.
Each year a number of tourism businesses enter-some first-time entrants and some regular entrants- who all worthy of an award. Queensland offers vast tourism products and QTA is a prominent opportunity to acknowledge businesses and range of industry excellence.
We caught up with Saltbush Retreat and Topgolf Gold Coast to see why they have entered the competition and what it would mean to them to win.
Saltbush Retreat, a family-owned and run accommodation provider in Longreach reflects the unique product offering of Outback tourism in Queensland and is one of this year’s QTA entrants.
“By entering the Queensland Tourism Awards, we were given the opportunity to have all aspects of our business reviewed by professional tourism consultants, peers, and our guests,” said Anita Clark, Saltbush Retreat Business Development Manager.
Ms Clark continued, “As small business owners who can easily fall into the trap of working in our business rather than on our business, the award process is a welcomed opportunity for sustainable business improvement”.
A new entrant this year, Topgolf Gold Coast, a premium golfing experience offered to people of all ages and skill levels, comment on why they decided to enter QTA.
“As one of the newest operators in Australia, QTA is a fantastic way to showcase the full width and breadth of our offerings to the industry and help cement Topgolf’s position as an industry leader in the tourism sector,” said Mitchell Olivey, TopGolf Communications Manager.
Mr Olivey continued, “We are extremely proud of our business and winning an award at QTA would be great recognition for all of the hard work our team has put into creating and operating this wonderful venue. QTA is a great opportunity to promote the great work your business does within the industry”.
